Digital X-Ray Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our digital X-ray and diagnostic imaging services.
Digital X-rays use modern sensors that significantly reduce radiation compared with older film systems. We follow strict safety protocols, use shielding when appropriate, and tailor exposure settings to each patient. If you're pregnant or suspect pregnancy, notify us so we can take extra precautions or consider alternatives.
Yes. Digital images are processed instantly and reviewed by our clinicians during your visit. Immediate access allows us to discuss findings, plan treatment, and, when necessary, share images electronically with specialists for quick consultations or referrals.
Digital X-rays can show alignment issues, reduced disc space or bony changes suggestive of degeneration, but they do not image soft tissue directly. For confirmed herniated discs we may recommend MRI or advanced imaging to visualize discs and nerve structures.
Digital X-rays provide high-resolution images of bone, allowing detection of breaks, cracks, displacements and joint alignment issues. For complex or subtle injuries we may order additional views or CT scans to fully assess the condition and guide treatment decisions.
Preparation is minimal: wear comfortable clothing and avoid metal jewelry or accessories near the area being imaged. Bring previous imaging or reports if available, and inform staff of pregnancy or relevant medical history. Usually no fasting or special prep is required.
Many insurance plans cover medically necessary X-rays, but coverage varies. Our team can verify benefits, provide procedure codes, and offer cost estimates. We also discuss self-pay options and will help you understand any out-of-pocket responsibilities.
